Silicon Valley Community Foundation generously sponsored 25 tickets for our MOUSE Squad Faculty advisors to be see Erin Gruwell, the Long Beach based teacher who wrote Freedom Writers’ Diary. She will give a talk and book signing at Bayside Middle School Theater at 7:30 p.m. on June 1st 2007. Her book was also made into a moving and eye opening film about how teachers can help empower under performing students though writing. Hilary Swank portrayed the novice teacher, she successfully inspired countless young, aspiring teachers to create opportunities for themselves to teach in a creative and impactful manner, to make a difference in students’ lives.
